The Community School Model is a transformative approach to education that integrates academic, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement. The goal is to improve student learning, build stronger school connections, and create healthier communities. This model emphasizes the collaboration between schools, families, and community resources to support the holistic development of students. Key components include extended learning opportunities, family engagement, health and social services, and community partnerships.
Neil Armstrong Elementary School piloted the model during the 2024-25 school year.
First: Families, school staff and community members share needs
Second: Community Schools use feedback to plan programming to meet the needs of students and families
Third: Students and families receive desired supports meeting academic, physical and emotional needs
End result: Students have their needs met and are able to learn to their full potential!
